Disclaimer: BMI is only used as a general guideline. Never use it to solely predict one’s health status as health cannot be reduced to a simple mathematical calculation.  BMI may exaggerate body fat in athletes and others who are big-boned or have a muscular build.  It may also not sufficiently predict body fat in the elderly and the young; in osteoporotic patients and those who are genetically taller or shorter.  Diet plans and lifestyle modification should be individualized.  Always seek the advice of a professional health practitioner such as a dietician, nutritionist, doctor, etc.
